Peter,
Desmond and Rahul will live, capture and communicate everyday life
in Kerala. We see their quest leading them up coconut trees,
falling Morrison’s footstpes chanting “Show me the way to the
next toddy (fermented Coconut water) bar”. The excitement of the
run seems to have consumed every molecule of their being. The
courage shown by our boys on the field goes far beyond endurance
running and has manifested itself in all areas of their lives,
conquering weak constitutions being one (when it comes to
stomaching spicy Indian food). Nothing has stopped them from
savouring the likes of chicken stew and appams. Rahul (who had the
good fortune of marking the grand start of the run by lending his
head to a crow, who accurately managed to crap on his head, which
in some parts of India is believed to be an extremely auspicious
start) is happy that Pete cannot fly, no matter how fast he
runs!!!
We
hope to capture the political consciousness of the state as
reflected in everyday activities, be it workers in a cashew field
listening to a colleagues reading the newspaper in turns, while the
rest of them mechanically go about the mindless job of separating
the cashew from the fruit. The local libraries, tea stalls and the
characteristic life around the backwaters. are active spaces, with
an apparent social consciousness.
We
hope to explore the beauty of Kerala so described by Arundhati Roy
and a society that got the imagination of writers like R.K.
Narayan, What was it that inspired those stories? Stay with us and
find out……. |
